How food didn't go waste in each day of the Mahabharata war ?

The king of Udipi, being remained neutral in the Mahabharata war, served as a caterer to all the soldiers of both Pandavas and Kauravas. He cooked food daily for the remaining soldiers who survived in the war. It was uncertain for all how many soldiers would survive in the war. But, the king beautifully managed to cook food for the remaining soldiers, where the food didn't go waste. Its very strange. After the battle, someone asked Udipi, "How did you know, how many soldiers will remain alive?" To this question, the king Udipi said, "At the end of the war, daily at night, I used to go Krishna's tent. Krishna loves to eat boiled groundnuts in the night so I peel them and keep them in a bowl. Then Krishna eats few of them. After that, I count how many peanuts he had eaten. For eg., if Krishna eat 10 peanuts then I know that tomorrow 10,000 peoples will be dead, and so on. So the next day when I cook lunch, I cook for 10,000 people less. Every day I count these peanuts and cook accordingly, and it turns out right ".
